1982 Greco EG 1800 Limited Edition 'The Greco'

This is a very rare Greco, a 1982 EG 1800 Limited Edition ‘The Greco’, which I was very lucky to be able to purchase. Spec wise, it is very highly appointed as you would expect of a Greco 1800 model. The top is solid flame maple, back one-piece mahogany, the neck is one piece with no wings on the headstock, fretboard is ebony with mother of pearl markers and fret edge binding. The neck profile is very large, like you would find on a Super Real. Finish is nitro and pickups are Greco’s best at the time DRY 82. Inlay work on the board is noticeably well done.

What’s especially interesting about the guitar is that looking at the neck and pickup cavities it is very clear that this Greco was made by ESP and not Fujigen.

There was a Japanese website that detailed another example of this model with all specifications the same as found on this guitar. The post was written by the original owner who purchased his new in October 1982 and that it was a model special ordered by the store. The store told him that only three had been ordered, so this may be one of three made. I’ll continue to look for it in magazines from the time to see if the store advertised it.
