This is a 1978 Burny FFB-150 which is a copy of a Firebird V. There are a lot of vintage Japanese copies of these guitars, but not too many that have laminated through neck construction like the original ’63 Gibson. Gibson even moved away from the original construction due to the cost of building them that way.

In addition to the through neck construction, body wings are made from mahogany, reverse headstock has original style banjo tuners and a great sounding pair of mini humbuckers. The original Firebird V’s came with a Maestro Vibrola, which this model did not come with. It’s more like Johnny Winter’s Firebird V, which he removed the Vibrola and replaced it with a stop tail piece.

In the 1978 Fernandes catalog there is a section on Master Hand guitars, which sound a lot like Greco’s Project Series. Master Hand had three levels: Type I Special Hand, Type II Custom Hand and Type III Semi Custom Hand. This guitar is a Type I, which were models that were not regular production models, but required the customer to order it, would take three months to make and allowed for some customization.

This guitar appears to be all original and in fantastic condition.
