1981 Greco SE 800 Super Real

FOR SALE

This is a fantastic Super Real era Greco, one of the most desirable Strat models from 1981, the last year before Fujigen started making guitars for Fender Japan and there were no more Fender based Greco models.

The 1981 SE 800 Super Real is meant to be a copy of a 1954 Strat and as such has some great features. Most notable, is its massive soft-V neck profile, one of the largest you’ll come across. This model came with fantastic pickups, Maxon Excels with 31276 bobbins, mounted in an aluminum pickguard and controlled with a 5-way switch.

The body is two-piece, center seam made from alder, with a Tobacco Sunburst lacquer finish. Tuners are Greco Deluxe, Kluson style. The guitar appears to be all original, including its electronics. Condition overall is very good, showing honest play wear on the pickguard and neck, as well its share of dings and scratches and natural aging of the hardware. This is definitely not a case queen. Neck plate dates the guitar to May 1981, neck and pickguard are stamped July 10 and July 17 1981.

The guitar has been completely gone through and received a full setup including cleaning of the frets, fretboard, pots, switch and jack, adjustment of neck relief (truss rod), action, intonation, pickup heights and checking nut relief. Frets were polished and nut slots cleaned. There is no buzzing or dead spots anywhere on the neck. Guitar plays and sounds great, it needs nothing.

Super Real era Greco SE 800’s are highly sought after and for good reason. If you want a vintage Strat experience with a huge, soft-V neck profile, beautifully constructed and with some of the best Strat pickups from Greco’s peak, this guitar will deliver. Real vintage vibe from a forty year old vintage Japanese guitar.

As with all my guitars, this Greco is located in the United States.
The guitar will come with a non-original hard case.
