1980 EG 700G Gold Top with PU-2  Pickups
Collector Quality All Original in Amazing Condition
SOLD

Ever wonder what a brand new, 1980 Greco was like?  Well this Gold Top is about as close to that experience as one is likely to get.  I've taken many guitars apart and this one just felt like not a single screw had ever been removed.  I did it once to inspect, document and clean the guitar.  The guitar shows almost no play wear.  Pictures tell the story.  I've included a shot of polishing the frets.  All I used on them was metal polish; you can see just how nice and original they are.

Pickups on this guitar are PU-2, which are one of my favorites from Greco and these were made by Maxon, dated January 28th, 1981.  So this guitar was built in late 1980 as I suspect a 1981 model.  See the '81 Greco catalog which shows the EG 700G.  Pots and all electronics are all original as you can see in the pictures.  Rosewood on this guitar is especially nice.  Catalog shows it would have come with Brazilian Rosewood, but I can't be sure if it is.

Finish on this model is shown as nitro lacquer as well and it is stunning.  I have another 1980 Greco gold top and the finish on this one is just really bright and deep, like its been sitting in its case for all its life.  I've provided lots of pictures of this beauty to look at.

It is a true time capsule and the condition is truly mind blowing given its age.  It really does look like it was hardly ever played. It came with what I believe is its original gig bag, so I believe they should stay together.

Unlikely another will come up this nice.
Truly collector quality and a unique opportunity.
