Greco EGF 1200 Super Real - 1980
SOLD

This is a collector quality example of the highly sought EGF 1200 which was produced by Greco as part of the Super Real series between 1980 and 1981.  This is one of only four production models that came equipped with the legendary DRY Z pickup, which is considered one of the best PAF reproduction pickups.

This model is based on a 1958 Les Paul and has narrow vintage frets, brazilian rosewood fret board and a large 58 profile one piece mahogany neck.  As one of the highest grade models Greco offered at the time it is finished in Lacquer, with a unique to this model honey burst top - see my blog linked below to find out what Greco was shooting for with the finish on this guitar.

It is definitely amongst the top of all vintage Japanese guitars and is perfectly executed, beautiful to look at, true to an original 58 and is an absolute joy to play.  Approaching forty years, it delivers all that a player or collector desires from a vintage guitar.

I replaced the pickup selector knob and the neck pickup ring has a crack, otherwise this guitar is in amazing  condition and appears to be all original, including its original Super Real case that comes with truss rod wrench and key.  The DRY Z pickups are a matched pair, have never been opened based upon the original solder and are both dated to July 28, 1980.

These guitars are very resonant and the DRY Z pickups do live up to their reputation.  This is an opportunity to get one of the most sought after vintage Japanese guitars, and one of the highest grade LP's Greco offered at the time.  A true collector quality vintage guitar that has a reputation as one of the best LP inspired guitars made.  EGF-1200's do not come up for sale very often, and especially not in the condition this guitar is in.

I had an early Greco catalog translated that has a full page introducing the EGF-1200.   You can check it out here: EGF-1200 Catalog in English
