This is a non-catalog 1982 Tokai SR-60 Ritchie Blackmore model.

This is the second one I found of these and is a largely unknown model. When I saw the first one, I looked in Japanese guitar magazines from 1982 and was lucky enough to find a new product announcement for the SR-60 model, as well as a store advertising that they had the Tokai SR-60 Ritchie Blackmore model in stock. The new product announcement identifies the SR-60 as a Ritchie Blackmore model Stratocaster with a scalloped fretboard and high output pickups with large diameter pole pieces and coming in OWR (olympic white with rosewood fretboard).

Both of the SR-60 guitars I have are identically equipped, so I’m comfortable saying they are both all original. Fretboard is factory scalloped. The neck and bridge pickups are large pole piece, high output. Middle pickup looks like a typical Tokai Silver Star pickup.

There is an excellent video by Ramon Goose on the history of Ritchie Blackmore’s guitars. If you jump to 26:43, you can see what guitar Tokai used as the basis for the SR-60 model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9S-MIV1zZ8

This particular guitar shows little sign of play wear but looks like it spent a lot of time out of its case as there is a lot of aging of the hardware and darkening of the finish (see picture of the body route). There are some minor dings as well.

This guitar has been gone through completely and received a full setup.

Unclear how many of these may have been made, but it is a rare Tokai.
