1980 EG 1000 C Super Real LP Custom w/ DRY Z Pickups in Black Sunburst
Very rare 1980 EG 1000 C Super Real Custom. This is one of only four production models to come with the highly sought after DRY Z pickups. It has a jet black ebony fretboard with real mother of pearl block inlays, fret edge binding and features one of the largest neck profiles from the early 80's MIJ guitars as it is modeled after a '58.
All hardware is gold, including its as originally equipped waffle back tuners, bridge, stop tail piece and a matched set of DRY Z pickups which have had their covers removed, but i replaced them with a set of gold covers from a 1981 Greco. The top has seven ply binding, while the back and head stock are five ply. Finish is lacquer, with the binding taking on an amber hue of aged lacquer as a true vintage guitar in its own right. This guitar appears to be all original except for the pickup covers, lack of a pickguard and locking guitar strap pins were installed.
Overall this guitar is in great condition. There are surface nicks and the back has a large number of small scratches as can be seen in the pictures. Some of the screws are rusty and gold finish on tuners, bridge and tailpiece are tarnished or worn off. There is some uneven discoloring of the binding and a hairline crack, only in the finish, at the base of the neck.
Excellent example of one of the top models to come from the golden age of MIJ guitars that plays and sounds as good as it looks.
This model is definitely one of my favorite guitars as they are beautifully made and use very high quality materials. Mother of Pearl inlays on an Ebony board are a pleasure to play.
