Greco EGF 1200 Super Real - 1980
(Have another for a bit less than this one as well)
This is a great example of the highly sought after Greco EGF 1200 which was produced by Greco as part of the Super Real series for only two short years. This is one of only four production models that came equipped with the legendary DRY Z pickup, which is considered one of the best PAF reproduction pickups.
This model is based on a 1958 Les Paul and has narrow vintage frets, what looks like Brazilian rosewood fret board with real mother of pearl markers and a very large 58 profile one piece mahogany neck. As one of the highest grade models Greco offered at the time it is finished in Lacquer, with a unique to this model honey burst top.
It is definitely among the top of all vintage Japanese guitars and is perfectly executed, beautiful to look at, true to an original 58 and is an absolute joy to play. Approaching forty years, it delivers all that a player or collector desires from a vintage Japanese guitar.
The guitar has its matched set of DRY Z pickups, correct Greco Deluxe single line, double ring Kluson style tuners and original bridge and tailpiece - see pics. Pots, jack and strap pins were changed, but switch and Fujicon caps look original. Body has nicks, scratches and chips - see pics, frets and neck are in excellent shape looking like the frets were recently dressed. There is no buzzing anywhere on the neck.
These guitars are very resonant and the DRY Z pickups do live up to their reputation. This is an opportunity to get one of the most sought after vintage Japanese guitars, and one of the highest grade LP's Greco offered at the time. EGF-1200's do not come up for sale very often and prices have been going up on these.
This guitar will include its original Super Real case (or $200 less with a non-original case).
Offered at $3,550
This guitar is located in the US
I had an early Greco catalog translated that has a full page introducing the EGF-1200. You can check it out on my blog: EGF-1200 Catalog in English
