Greco SA Tokai Made - 1991(?)
This is a very rare Tokai made Greco SA from late in the Mint Collection era that is built to a very high specification and does not show up in any of the Greco catalogs. The guitar is dated to 1991 using codes found on its pots. At this time, the specifications of the Greco SA models available don't come close to the build of this guitar. It is very likely a custom order, done as a limited run by one of the Japanese guitar stores.
It's body is flamed on all sides, has a one piece mahogany neck with a Striped Ebony fretboard and fret edge binding. The center block is traditional ES-335 construction using a maple block sandwiched top and bottom between spruce. The body is finished in Lacquer and while they sound very good, the pickups are at this time a complete unknown. A second Tokai made Greco SA was found owned by another collector and it has the same unknown pickups, so they are very likely original to the guitar.
As you can see in the accompanying pictures, it is a stunning guitar.
